This trip is available year-round and is best done Friday - Monday. We do not recommend traveling Tuesday through Thursday due to closures.

Itinerary

STOP 1

You absolutely have to make a quick pit stop at our roadside attraction. Next, head up to a scenic lookout and grab a coffee to start your day! Drive time to the second stop is 20 minutes.

STOP 2

This was on of the most unique experiences we've had as road trippers. Quirky and funny folk art awaits! Drive time to your third stop is 15 minutes.

STOP 3

Take a break from exploring all the wacky wonders of the area and dig into a tasty meal. Drive time to your fourth stop is 5 minutes.

STOP 4

There's so much to do in the area that we've left it up to you. Another weird & wonderful spot, a couple wineries, or pick up some sweet treats in a cute town.

Please see the approximate driving distances below. Please note this just includes round-trip driving distances and not time spent at stops.

  • From Downtown Atlanta: 3 hours and 43 minutes / 215 miles
  • From Athens: 3 hours / 149 miles
  • From Dahlonega: 2 hours and 48 minutes / 120 miles
  • From Madison*: 4 hours and 5 minutes / 208 miles

*We recommend booking an overnight hotel if the driving distance is greater than 4 hours round-trip.

This trip can be done throughout the year between Friday - Monday.

We recommend leaving anytime between 8:30 - 9:00 am.

The later you leave, the less time you may have to complete all of the stops.

Unfortunately you will need to leave your furry friend at home for the day. There are a number of stops that do not allow dogs.

We recommended bringing up to 5 people on your surprise road trip.

If you're bringing a larger group, we highly recommend having one person in charge of booking reservations at the restaurants and attractions in advance. In your confirmation email, you'll receive a copy of the itinerary.

First Stop: No fee

Second Stop: No fee

Third Stop: Our main suggestion has no fee. An alternative hike and waterfall spot is $5 per vehicle.

Fourth Stop: No fee

I took my trip on my birthday and it was wonderful. I got to see some amazing local gems that I never knew existed. And it was all planned out for me. I can’t wait to do my next one!
