Was a fun adventure to do with my teen!
I loved the concept and was excited for a fun day! This was purchased as a gift for my husband as it sounded like everything he would love, coffee, beer, wine and trails. It was a great day but I wouldn't say that it met my expectations. At some points were underwhelmed or disappointed.
Unfortunately 2 options in our second stop were closed. We had checked the website prior to visiting to ensure nothing on our trip was impacted by possible closures. The trail said it was closed but we still went. The reason I booked this specific one was because I know muskoka has great breweries. We didn't love the one that was suggested. We intended to go for lunch but were turned off. I think it would be nicer in the summer with the outdoor option. So perhaps we lucked out. The cool coffee place was closed for the season which is too bad because it looked awesome. We will have to go back as it looked like a good suggestion! The cranberry winery was awesome! The pizza place was OK. We opted to have that for dinner as it is said to be muskoka's best pizza. Perhaps it is but I didn't feel it was worth the stop. We enjoyed the short trails. Perhaps this trip could use some updates or tweaking to make it better. We still enjoyed the day I just didn't think it was as amazing as I expected it to be from what I read. The bakery in the morning was worth the stop for some yummy donuts so don't waste your time with tims. Again I love the concept perhaps a different one will serve us better and I'm optimistic to try something different. Just a suggestion - it would be awesome if the pdf version had clickable links like addresses etc. I would pay extra for something a bit more interactive.
What a wonderful day. We had lot of fun exploring, the day was very laid back and planned out perfectly. Stop 3 was my favorite, I would highly recommend this trip!
My sister and I recently took this road trip and we honestly had the best time!
Loved every stop. Tons of treats, quirky finds, adorable animals and beautiful scenery. Can't wait to try another one
This road trip was such a great reminder that you don't need to go far to feel far away. Our day was a perfect blend of outdoor adventure and great food!
This was a great day out, close to home, and we found a lot of places we wouldn't have seen otherwise. Still thinking of all the hand-made goodies we picked up throughout the day!
We had so much fun on this trip, there was even more to do than what was written here, lots of fun surprises. Can't wait to go on our next trip!
So many cute spots close to home that I'd never heard of before! The day flowed perfectly, and we had the best breakfast on stop #2. So many nice outdoor options, and the final stop had a few suggestions so you could choose how to end your day. Highly recommend this trip!
I did this with my family last summer and we are actually doing it again this summer. This might be my NEW favourite area. Rolling hills, horse and buggies...the best food. Do yourself a favour and go on a surprise road trip with the family or loved one. It was easy too- just open the envelopes and go!
If you're looking for something to do in the Ohio area- this is it! You get to see a little bit of everything. And for the whole group it's only $65!
We thoroughly enjoyed the day! Loved the selected options & the included details about the landmarks, hikes, towns & hidden gems! Exceeded our expectations!
We received the trip as a Christmas gift, but waited until May to head out. We had a beautiful spring day, which certainly added to the adventure. We didn't always pick the "Featured Stop", but all the choices sounded great and it was nice to be able to choose. The driving routes were scenic, which was a bonus, the cafe and brewery stops were delicious, the hiking was well marked and rated. All in all it was an amazing day and we would sign up for another trip for sure. Thanks for the adventure!
Trying to put myself into the place of someone not originally from this area, it could be a nice adventure. But where I expected to be going and where I ended up were two completely opposite places, and the fact it was 20 min away from house kinda took the joy away from the mystery road trip idea. Hoping I have better luck next time.
We're sorry to hear that it was a little too close to home! For your next adventure, please feel free to reach out for suggestions that will take you a little further away, or check out our trip map which indicates where each trip takes place :)
Happy travels!
Great outdoor time and ended at a lovely spot to eat. And drink
We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and stayed at Back Forty Glamping for a few nights. We planned the Whimsical Route as a starting point to explore the area. It was a great day trip and we thoroughly enjoyed all the stops on this trip! Thanks for a very memorable anniversary!
Perfect trip for couples, we had an amazing time.
We live in Toronto and wanted a relatively short trip (accounting for Toronto’s terrible traffic problem) and this route hit the nail on the head. The first stop was really great! We’d never heard of this conservation area and enjoyed the trails and stunning rock formations. Really a unique spot! Stop 2 was also a beautiful and new place for us and we had a wonderful lunch and walk around. Such friendly locals we even got a sneak peek in the church and a history lesson - the highlight of our trip for sure. Stop 3 was a little underwhelming. Definitely a place we never knew existed and we are glad we went but it’s not somewhere we’d go back to, and certainly check to see if this stop is closed. We got there and saw signage it’s closed Friday May 9. Stop 4 was a bust tbh. 3 of the locations weren’t open on Wednesday and the others didn’t seem worth the drive - but that’s just our opinion and somewhat formed by the fact we knew we needed to get back across the city and traffic would be bad. Despite this, I have to say we were thoroughly impressed by the entire package. The envelopes are so exciting to open, and it’s really well done in terms of directions and suggestions. We’ve already bought our next one and we are 100% getting more to take our kids on kid friendly routes as well Guess Where Trips…bravo! BRAVO!
Hi Sarah! Thank you so much for your feedback; it is so valuable to us! We're so glad that you had an overall good experience, and hopefully you'll be able to go back to some of the locations on stop #4 that you missed this time around (I highly recommend the pizza at the suggested cidery!). Thanks for being a GWT fan!
We enjoyed the first and second stops thoroughly. However, the trip continues further and further north. Given the long distance from Toronto of the first stop, we figured each stop would be back towards the city. But the last stop is about 45 minutes north of Huntsville. The lunch stops are very expensive. My mom and I went to the roadside diner thinking it will be the cheapest option. We split a turkey club sandwich with fries, no drink - and it was 28 dollars. I would maybe try out one of the other options. I think that you have to prepare for a 12 hour trip. It starts in Bancroft and goes about 1.5 hours north of Bancroft from there. We enjoyed our time but it was very far and a little more expensive than we bargained.
Hi Mary! Thank you so much for your feedback; it is truly invaluable to us! This trip is certainly a long one from Toronto, and makes for a fantastic overnight getaway. Just a small correction - trip does not start in Bancroft, but starts near Bracebridge, ON and goes north from there. Just to make sure other travellers aren't confused! Thank you again, and hopefully you try another one of our trips that stays closer to home.
Markets to Mountains
Revisited some familiar spots, and discovered a few we didn't know existed. This was a nice excursion for my husband and myself. There was a nice variety to our stops, not just shopping. Plenty of outdoor beauty to enjoy.
Today we did the chasing waterfalls adventure to celebrate my husband and my 3rd wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. We have a 17 month old and day to day can be exhausting, especially what to cook for dinner and what activities to do for the day. So this having everything planned for us was a dream. We took our little one with us in a hiking carrier and also brought the furry family member along too. Can honestly say that today was one for the books, we had so much fun and made some great memories as a family. Can’t wait to try another one.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a nice review! We're glad that we could play a role in helping create a magical day for you!
My husband and I enjoyed this road trip and made a weekend out of it. We discovered new places that we will return to again. Because of the weather we were unable to do everything on the itinerary but it was still a very worthwhile getaway.
