I was very excited about this, as it's a great concept, but it felt not thought out well. The first stop was the best, exploring the town was great and the cafe was really nice and did have good coffee. The Mill was cool, but unless you have a lot to spend, it's not the best. The other stop for shopping was better. I was expecting more riverside walking, I would suggest not parking by the stop and walking over so you actually get more "riverside roaming".
The second stop, you definitely need bug spray in the warmer months, but since this was not listed in what to pack, we didn't. Pretty disappointed in that, as it could have been more enjoyable. We couldn't even finish the trail, and we're just discouraged to try the first one listed instead. It was also a very poorly maintained train, which is not their responsibility, but maybe wouldn't suggest this one. Looking it up, we saw a comment complaint that is was too overgrown, I feel like maybe that should have been considered in the research of this trip.
Third stop for lunch at the brewery, we couldn't even do. We went on a Saturday and when we got there it was an hour to hour and a half wait time. This is when we're thought, maybe we should have opened all the stops ahead of time to be able to make a reservation or be able to call and ask if they are busy but that seems like it would defeat the whole purpose of this concept. But the brewery is a very popular one, so it's going to be busy and needs to be planned ahead. Unfortunately, this isn't something great to do on a weekend but being working adults, it had to be. Glad I had packed some snacks so we had something to eat. The farm, we opted out of doing, because we didn't need produce and I wouldn't want to just go to their farm to look and not buy anything.
The fourth stop was a choose your own, which had good suggestions if we were heading in another direction but I also noticed one of them stated that close encounters had to be book ahead of time but you could go and look. This seems silly to me, like the brewery, to get the full experience you need to know ahead of time to plan. We left early to start the day to fit all the stops, but by this time we were just hungry and had to end the trip and find somewhere to eat. Honestly, we were just discouraged to try the other suggested stops by the lack luster of the others.
Overall, this one seemed poorly thought out and didn't have much riverside roaming which we expected. Maybe, we also just got unlucky. Maybe, other ones are better and more thought out, but this one wasn't really the best. It seemed like it would have been better to know the stops ahead of time to plan accordingly, but really would take away from the whole "guess where" idea. I also recommend doing this at a time you're on vacation, so as not to do on the weekend.
