Itinerary

STOP 1

It's time to stop and explore an often-overlooked Ontario small town. We've recommended a great local cafe plus a historic site with a haunted history. Drive time to the second stop is 15 minutes.

STOP 2

Head out on an easy trail with a few surprises and photo-worthy moments, or pop over to a farmers market for road trip snacks. Drive time to your third stop is 10-20 minutes.

STOP 3

You must be getting hungry, and in need of a farm fresh brew, at this point in the day. If you aren't up for a beer, a quirky museum or small town shops are up next! Drive time to the fourth stop is 20 minutes.

STOP 4

Choose between a gorgeous boardwalk trail or an incredibly significant historic site! We think you should definitely pop into our small town suggestion to grab one last beer and take in their colourful murals before heading home.

This trip is best done between May - October. This trip can be done in the winter; however, some seasonal options will be closed.

Best done between Thursday - Saturday. You can travel on Wednesday or Sunday; however, a few suggestions will be closed. We do not recommend traveling on Monday or Tuesday.

We recommend leaving anytime between 8:00 am - 8:30 am.

This trip is somewhat dog-friendly!

There is at least one outdoor dog-friendly option per stop. You can bring your furry friend, but it may limit you from going into some of the recommended stops.

However, if you want to get the most out of every stop, we recommend leaving your pup at home.

We recommend bringing between 2- 5 people on your surprise road trip adventure.

First Stop: Our featured stop has an optional self-guided tour that requires a fee per person ($). Grounds can be explored for free.

Second Stop: No fee

Third Stop: No fee

Fourth Stop: Two trail options require an entrance fee per person ($). We’ve provided alternative options that are free to explore but not open on Sunday.

Not Dog Friendly

A main reason I chose this Guess Where Trip was because it's labelled as dog friendly, but two of the four stops were not dog-friendly, unless you count the outside of the sites. The first stop had choices, one of which was labelled dog friendly, but it was only for the grounds of the site? The third stop was also not dog friendly. There were two sites to choose from, followed by cafe/shopping recommendations. Neither site was dog friendly, and only one of the recommendations was "dog friendly," again, if you stayed outside. We were disappointed. Not Dog Friendly.
As well, the driving times were off. It says Orillia is a 2+ hour drive from Barrie, ON, but it’s actually about 30 minutes.

We're so sorry that this trip didn't meet your expectations and that you didn't have a great experience. In general, our 'dog friendly' trips have at least one dog-friendly option per stop, and usually they are outdoor options or patios - we do mention that bringing your dog will limit you from going into many of our recommendations. Our driving times are also listed as 'round trip' (leaving from home, through all 4 stops, and back home again), as listed on our website FAQs and in the 'Before You Go' booklet. We're so sorry that this was unclear, and we will look into everything ti improve clarity for future travellers.

Hidden Gems and more gems!

This trip was amazing! The lunch spot was absolutely quaint and lovely. We had so much fun opening up each envelope and finding out where we would go next. Time literally flew by. It was relaxing, fun and just so "romantical". It was a lovely couples getaway - and we found a place to stay at our last stop because we just wanted to keep the momentum going.
I never would have found these places without Guess Where. This is my 3rd trip - can't wait for the fourth.
And ps: these make fantastic gifts as well, because once you post the pictures, everyone wants to share the experience!

Another wonderful trip.

We have done quite a few Guess Where Trips and they never disappoint. Even though it rained the enture day, it didn't eliminate the adventure.
