It might feel effortless when you’re on the road… but that’s kind of the point!
At first glance, a road trip feels simple:
- Pick a direction.
- Find a few stops.
- Hit the road.
But the kind of day where everything just flow, where every stop feels worth it, and nothing feels rushed or random? That takes a lot more than luck.
Here’s a look behind the scenes of how your mystery road trip comes together 👇

Every Guess Where Trip is personally tested before it’s released: we drive the route, visit each stop, and experience the day exactly as you will.
It Starts With a Location (and a Lot of Options)
Every trip begins with a specific area we’re excited about!
From there, our Product Manager, Hannah, casts a wide net, researching 50-60 potential stops within that region. That might include cafés, bakeries, scenic lookouts, small shops, trails, and hidden gems that don’t always show up on the first page of Google.
At this stage, nothing is finalized. It’s about gathering the best possible options before narrowing things down.
Step 1: Choosing the Best of the Best
Once Hannah's built that long list, patterns start to emerge along specific routes. She spends hours combing through maps, reviews and local recommendations, looking for places that are truly worth going out of your way for.
Sometimes an area leans foodie, with incredible bakeries and local restaurants. Other times it’s more scenic, with quiet towns and beautiful drives, or a mix of unexpected stops that make for a quirkier day.
That’s when the trip starts to take shape.
We don’t force a them, we let it naturally develop based on what the area does best.
Step 2: Shaping the Route
With the strongest stops selected, she begins mapping out the route.
This is where a good trip becomes a great one. She thinks carefully about how the day unfolds, starting with easy, inviting morning stops, building momentum through the afternoon, and making sure everything flows logically from one place to the next.
It’s not just about distance, it’s about pacing, variety, and creating a day that feels smooth from beginning to end.
Step 3: Taking to the Road
Before a trip is finalized, Hannah goes out and experiences it herself: driving the route, visiting each stop, and paying attention to how the day actually feels.
Is something too rushed? Is there a better order? Does anything feel like a miss?
This is also where some of the best discoveries happen!
While out, she will often ask locals for their favourite spots, and places they love that might not be widely known. Sometimes those recommendations end up becoming some of the most memorable stops on a trip.
Step 4: Making Sure It’s Worth Your Day
Beyond just being “good,” every stop has to meet a higher bar.
She's looking for places that feel:
- Welcoming and friendly
- Worth the time (and the drive)
- Consistently great - not hit or miss
Because at the end of the day, this isn’t just about filling a route, it’s about making sure your day feels well spent.
All of that work leads to one simple thing: a really great day.
A day where you don’t have to second-guess where to go next, wonder if a stop is worth it, or spend hours planning ahead of time.
It’s already been mapped out, tested, and thoughtfully put together, so all you have to do is enjoy it as it unfolds.
