Itinerary

STOP 1

Grab a coffee and explore a historic beach house with breathtaking ocean views. Drive time to the second stop is 15 minutes.

STOP 2

Lace up your shoes and head out on this 2 mile trail to mysterious ruins. Drive time to the third stop is 20 minutes.

STOP 3

Whether you want to hit the beach, take a scenic walk, or maybe grab a bite - the choice is yours! Drive time to the fourth stop is 25 minutes.

STOP 4

Stroll along the bluffs and visit a state park that has been featured in many movies. Not up for something active? Slurp some oysters or dig into a lobster roll.

This trip can be done any day throughout the year.

*Our historic house suggestion on the first stop is open for tours($) Wed - Sat, but the grounds can be explored any day.

We recommend departing between 9 am and 9:30 am. The later you leave, the less time you’ll have to explore all of the stops.

This trip is only somewhat pet-friendly!

On every stop there will be at least one option that allows furry friends; however, many of our eatery and shop options are not pet-friendly.

We recommended bringing up to 5 people on your surprise road trip.

I am a native of California and travel the Pacific Coast Highway on a regular bases. The Malibu area is about a 40 minute drive from my home a route I take when going to the Los Angeles area. The destinations that were provided I have passed on many occasions and never thought to visit. A friend and I took a half day trip and were totally in awe at our experiences. The establishment owners were very welcoming and were surprised when we shared what our days plans were and how they were mentioned/recommended by the tour company. Not to give away any of the destinations but one of the establishments actually gave us each a FREE POTTED PLANT and thanked us for visiting. I highly recommend Guess Where Trips and will be purchasing more trips for the other surrounding cities near me.

Overall, we loved our experience! Malibu was amazing and the tour took us to places we never would have found on our own. However, multiple stops were closed due to the landslide (which was not disclosed on the website weather updates). The second stop was completely unavailable with signs saying “do not enter” with parts of the third stop closed for safety concerns. We made the most of the trip, but it was unfortunate since we came out just for the day! Despite this, we did love the experience and thought the idea was so unique!

Thank you for letting us know about the recent landslides. As a small team we try our best to stay on top of all closures and events that would result in changes to each trip, however some things are out of our control. We will be sure to update the itinerary based on re-opening schedules of each of our recommendations!
