Itinerary

STOP 1

Your first stop brings you through three blink-and-you'll-miss-it towns that have seemingly been frozen in time. Drive time to the second stop is 7 minutes.

STOP 2

Next up is the chance to dine at a local eatery, pick up a new treasure at an antique shop, and drive around admiring the beauty of this forgotten town. Drive time to the third stop is 5 minutes.

STOP 3

Stretch your legs at one of eight trails in a park that showcases the beauty and history of the area. Drive time to the fourth stop is 20 minutes.

STOP 4

Choose from a quick walk around a truly unique destination or explore a local botanical garden.

From Orlando:
3 hours and 40 minutes / 229 miles

From Tampa:
4 hours and 10 minutes / 264 miles

From Jacksonville:
3 hours and 39 minutes / 187 miles

From Tallahassee:
3 hours and 20 minutes / 337 miles

*We recommend booking an overnight hotel if the driving distance is greater than 4 hours round-trip.

This trip is available year-round and can be done on any day. A couple suggestions are closed on Sunday, but we always suggest an alternative option.

We recommend leaving between 9:00 and 9:30 am. The later you leave the less time you may have to complete all of the stops.

Bringing your dog may limit you from experiencing a handful of our suggestions. Restaurants and cafes are not pup-friendly.

We recommended bringing up to 5 people on your surprise road trip. If you're bringing a larger group, we highly recommend having one person in charge of booking reservations at the restaurants and attractions in advance. In your confirmation email, you'll receive a copy of the itinerary.

First Stop: No fee

Second Stop: No fee

Third Stop: $6 / vehicle

Fourth Stop: One suggestion has a $4 vehicle entrance fee. Another is $10 per adult.

My daughters and I did this trip in December. We have a rental vacation home in Davenport and have placed it in our home for others to enjoy as well. We enjoyed seeing more to Florida then Disney/Universal. The locations are a fair distance drive from Davenport, however it was a great time to spend some quality time with my girls.

So many great discoveries!

I had a really great time exploring parts of Florida a bit off the beaten path. Definitely would not have thought of checking out some of these places on my own. So much history!

Great tour!

We really enjoyed driving through the laid back small towns in central Florida. Beautiful spanish moss and lazy days! Friendly people and great food!
