Itinerary

STOP 1

Start your day with a dose of Texas history and an iconic homestead. Grab some road trip fuel before heading to the next stop. Drive time to the second stop is 12 minutes.

STOP 2

It's wine o'clock! Whet your whistle at a nearby winery or distillery, or hit up another historic site and working farm. Drive time to the third stop is 15 minutes.

STOP 3

This stop is yours to choose, whether you want to sip at a funky winery, explore a quaint flower farm & market or visit an iconic Texas town. Drive time to the fourth stop is 15 minutes.

STOP 4

Venture into town or stay out - it's your call! Choose to hit up some local shops and eateries, or visit another nearby winery or distillery for one last taste of Texas terroir.

From Austin, TX:

3 hours and 25 minutes / 166 miles

From San Antonio, TX:

3 hours and 7 minutes / 169 miles

From San Marcos, TX:

3 hours and 9 minutes / 153 miles

*We recommend booking an overnight hotel if the driving distance is greater than 4 hours round-trip.

This trip can be done any day of the week, any time of year. One distillery on stop #2 is closed on Sunday & Monday.

We do not recommend traveling on holidays.

We recommend departing around 8:30 am if you’re coming from Austin or San Antonio. The later you leave, the less time you’ll have to explore all of the stops.

One optional suggestion on stop #1 offers a free tour at 10AM, so plan your arrival time accordingly. Your first stop is about 1 hr & 15 mins from Austin/San Antonio.

This trip is somewhat pet-friendly! There will be at least one dog-friendly option on every stop. However, note that our shop and eatery suggestions only allow dogs on outdoor patios, so we recommend coordinating with the weather.

We recommend bringing between 2- 5 people on your surprise road trip adventure.
