Itinerary

STOP 1

Your first stop of the day is a stroll through a spooky cemetery full of haunted tales. Drive time to the second stop is 8 minutes.

STOP 2

A short hike through the woods leads you to a spot with an eerie story. Drive time to the third stop is 20 minutes.

STOP 3

Boos, Bites or Brews - the choice is yours! We've recommended fantastic local spots for lunch, plus more haunted small town destinations. Drive time to the fourth stop is 7 minutes.

STOP 4

Make sure you don't have any ghosts following you home after you explore a couple abandoned spots to end the day! Note that one super cool haunted spot is only open daily from July - October; we provide alternative year-round options.

From Chicago, IL:

2 hours and 5 minutes / 86 miles

From Rockford, IL*:

4 hours and 10 minutes / 229 miles

From Milwaukee, WI*:

4 hours and 30 minutes / 248 miles

*We recommend booking an overnight hotel if the driving distance is greater than 4 hours round-trip.

This trip can be done any day of the week, any time of the year.

Note that one super cool haunted option on stop #4 is open daily from July - October. We’ve provided a year-round alternative.

We recommend leaving around 9:30 am if you’re coming from Chicago. The later you leave, the less time you’ll have to explore all of the stops.

This trip is somewhat pet-friendly! At every stop there will be at least one option for you to explore with your furry friend. Please note that our shop and eatery suggestions only allow dogs on patios, so we recommend coordinating with the weather.

We recommend bringing between 2- 5 people on your surprise road trip adventure.

Our haunted trips are all about the stories and the atmosphere. While you’ll visit real locations tied to eerie legends, many are best enjoyed from the outside — so bring your imagination! You’ll have a few short walks or hikes, plus several “drive-by” or photo-op stops where you’ll read the history in your booklet and picture the events for yourself.

Ghost sightings not guaranteed… but goosebumps possible.

Great fun! Do it!

The surprise aspect of the trip doubles the fun! There’s places not far away that we never knew about. We appreciate the location picks and their proximity. We did an Eerie Escape and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was some alternate choices that we plan to check out too. Do yourself a favor and do it! You’ll be happy you did!
