WHAT TO EXPECT

This outdoorsy, story-filled road trip blends spooky legends with beautiful scenery along a rural driving route. A few local eateries and trails are sprinkled throughout the day to keep your energy up while ghost hunting.

Most haunted sites are best enjoyed from the outside, so bring your curiosity and imagination to make the ghost stories come alive.

Itinerary

STOP 1

You’ll love exploring this beautiful yet eerie historic site. We've even included a cute farm market with baked goods for breakfast. Drive time to the second stop is 15 minutes.

STOP 2

Do you dare venture beneath a historic bridge with a tragic tale? Drive time to the third stop is 15 minutes.

STOP 3

Our featured stop is a haunted riverside mansion with tons of spooky stories and a creepy cemetery to explore. Drive time to the fourth stop is 5 minutes.

STOP 4

A haunted courthouse and picturesque bridge await with fantastic late-lunch suggestions and a picture-perfect photo op.

This trip is best done between April - October, from Wednesday - Saturday. You can do this trip on Sunday, but a few eateries will be closed.

We recommend leaving anytime between 8:30 and 9:30 am.The later you leave, the less time you may have to complete all of the stops.

Your furry friend can come along on this trip! There will be at least one outdoor dog-friendly option available on each stop. Please note that most of our eat & drink options only allow dogs on outdoor patios.

We recommended bringing up to 5 people on your surprise road trip.

If you're bringing a larger group, we highly recommend having one person in charge of booking reservations at restaurants and attractions in advance. Please see the previous page for a copy of the digital itinerary.

First stop: No fee.

Third stop: No fee. Our featured stop requests donations if possible.

Fourth stop: One optional stop requires an entrance fee ($). We’ve provided many free alternatives.

Our haunted trips are all about the stories and the atmosphere. While you’ll visit real locations tied to eerie legends, many are best enjoyed from the outside — so bring your imagination! You’ll have a few short walks or hikes, plus several “drive-by” or photo-op stops where you’ll read the history in your booklet and picture the events for yourself.

Ghost sightings not guaranteed… but goosebumps possible.

The only thing haunting me is I spent money on this

There was absolutely nothing haunting on this trip. The stops were boring and made up The locals didn’t know the stories Save your money maybe pick something else. This one was incredibly lame and not spooky at all.

Oh no! While this review did make us chuckle, we are so sorry that our Beautifully Haunted road trip did not live up to your expectations. We do extensive research when writing up all of our trips, and I promise you that there are articles or blog posts that back up each and every one of the ghost stories in our haunted trips. Perhaps some have been lost to local legend over time. Thank you for leaving your honest review, and we truly hope you'll give another one of our road trips a try in the future.

More for history buffs

Was a great outing. Lots of walking and enjoying places that we've never been to. Planned it accordingly and were able to make all the places before closing. There was one spot that was not great. The one place was not kept up or maintained to preserve it's history, so it was disappointing to go.

Fun day out!

Had a great day out with my girl friends. Alrhough the trip wasn’t really “spooky or haunted” it was cool to explore places we’ve never been in our own backyard.
We loved reading the history of each of the places. The shops were cool and now we know we have places to visit again.
We were disappointed we didn’t time it right to enjoy the one cafe, but it’s now a place to visit in the future.
Will probably pick a different adventure!

Beautifully Haunted

Departed with my husband on a Sunday morning. Would totally recommend leaving on another day as one of the small towns we stopped in had most of its smaller businesses closed. One of the stops also listed the times it was open (which we were there for), but the building we were to tour was still closed. A little bit disappointing.

Thank you for letting us know! We're going to look into the stops on this trip right now to see if any changes need to be made to the days that this trip can be done.
