Itinerary

STOP 1

Choose from two different routes with all sorts of sights to see. Think short strolls, alligators, fantastic views and more. Drive time to your second stop is 5 minutes.

STOP 2

Explore an easy off-the-beaten-path 1 mile boardwalk trail through swamps and wildflowers before coming to an observation deck. Drive time to your third stop is 10 minutes.

STOP 3

Discover one of the biggest mysteries in the Everglades. We've also recommended our favorite spot to grab a bite to eat. Drive time to your fourth stop is 15 minutes.

STOP 4

You've officially made it to the end of the road. Enjoy a little self-guided tour of a charming small town before heading home.

*We recommend booking an overnight hotel if the round-trip driving distance is greater than 4 hours round-trip.

This trip can be done any day throughout the year. Our food recommendation on the third stop is only open Thursday - Sunday, but there are other activities for you to choose from.

We recommend leaving anytime between 8:30 and 9:00 am. The later you leave, the less time you may have to complete all of the stops.

You can bring your furry friend along for your surprise road trip. Please know they will not be able to go to any restaurants or stores. There is something dog-friendly at each stop.

We recommended bringing up to 5 people on your surprise road trip.

If you're bringing a larger group, we highly recommend having one person in charge of booking reservations at the restaurants and attractions in advance. In your confirmation email, you'll receive a copy of the itinerary.

First Stop: All attractions are free.

Fourth Stop: An optional attraction has a $5 entry fee per person. Other free suggestions are available.

Some Pros, Some Cons

Overall, this was a good experience with some interesting spots. It was a good way to encourage us to get out of the city and see parts we otherwise wouldn't have while on our trip. We did have some challenges because there are no actual maps or driving directions provided, which there should be since the instructions also say "headed to a place with limited cell service". We had a hard time getting Apple or Google Maps to recognize the destinations, even while we had service, which meant we missed our turn and the stop we were most excited about. Basic driving directions from the major city (get on i95 west, etc) should be included - both for those who are not familiar with the starting point and those who are more technologically challenged. The included maps were also useless and it wasn't until we stopped and got a park service map that we really figured it out - especially for places where it may be less wall traveled roads, I would expect a better quality map to be included.

Adventure everglades

This was a fabulous adventure. Just the right mix of history, culture and nature with opportunity to get in some steps. Only one issue - the lack of cell service made getting from one destination to the next a bit tricky, as we could not just enter it into GPS and see the map. Would recommend providing a map. but only enough to get to the next destination. The maps provided were not useful in navigating.

Go and explore the glades but bring bug spray!

Highly recommend. Bring bug spray...we didn't and couldn't find any on the road...go figure. make sure you save time for a cold beer and some fresh fish at the end of the trip. Fourth stop was the best.

absolutely fantastic

I've known about this area for years, but wanted to explore it further. Wow...so many great gems. The first stop allowed us to choose between an undiscovered scenic route or one that we've been on before. Highly recommend the scenic route but only if you have lots of time!
